Science Outreach at the MNU Campus Event in Kiel

On 24 February 2026, Paul Diemel from the Science Outreach Project (SOP) and Gerhard Schmidt delivered a presentation at the MNU Campus to an audience of approximately 50 highly interested school students. During the session, the speakers introduced the Collaborative Research Center, offering insights into both the underlying sensor principles — illustrated through live demonstrations — and the associated medical applications. They also discussed the broader vision of the research initiative and its potential impact on everyday clinical practice.

The students engaged actively throughout the event, posing numerous thoughtful questions. Helmut Mallas, our local contact and co-organizer of the event, expressed great satisfaction with the presentation, highlighting in particular the dynamic exchange between experience and fresh perspective created by the alternating contributions of Gerhard and Paul. For the participants, the visit to the MNU Campus — dedicated to mathematics and science education — provided a valuable opportunity to explore academic pathways and gain orientation for future study and career decisions.
