Fourth Onboarding Day at CRC 1261 (10.12.2025)
In December 2025, we held another onboarding day at TF to welcome four new CRC members: Ebrar Colak (master’s student in project A7), Hariharan Nhalil (postdoctoral researcher in project A10), Erik Greve (doctoral researcher in project A2), and Beta Salman Ghifari (international fellow in project B12).
The day began with coffee and an introduction to the CRC and the IRTG program. After a joint lunch at the Dockside Mensa, the group visited several laboratories for tours and demonstrations, providing insights into some of the CRC projects.
At the end of the scientific program, several IRTG members joined the onboardees for an informal get-together.
Here is what two of the participants had to say about the onboarding event:
Hariharan Nhalil:
"I really enjoyed the CRC 1261 onboarding day. Special thanks to Mona and Prof. Gerhard Schmidt for organizing such a well-structured and engaging event. It truly felt like we are part of a team.
The event was invaluable from my perspective, as it provided a clear overview of what the different core groups are working on within this interdisciplinary project and motivated me to contribute my part to this ambitious and exciting initiative.
I would also like to express my appreciation to all the lab members who presented their work and gave us a broader view of the ongoing research in their groups within such a short time."
Ebrar Colak:
"I recently attended the CRC onboarding event, which was not that new for me since I was already familiar with the structure due to my master thesis/supervisor. However, it was really helpful to learn more about the different projects since I was hoping to find a PhD position after my thesis.
I especially enjoyed hearing about research topics that I hadn’t been familiar with before. The introduction to the IRTG was also very interesting, as it highlighted opportunities such as workshops and international exchange that are available to doctoral researchers."
